With the CFPB intensifying its investigation into excessive “junk fees” in U.S. real estate transactions, this class empowers professionals to identify, understand, and avoid these hidden costs. This course is tailored for REALTORS seeking to enhance their knowledge, protect their clients, and streamline transactions with greater transparency and trust.

Key Objectives:
  • Understand Junk Fees and Their Impact: Learn what qualifies as a “junk fee,” how it impacts consumer trust, and how to identify these fees in title insurance and real estate closings.
  • Recognize Prohibited Charges: Differentiate between allowable and prohibited fees charged by title companies and attorneys, ensuring compliance and protecting client interests.
  • Spot, Calculate, and Communicate Fees: Gain hands-on experience reviewing real closing statements, so you can identify and explain valid charges versus excessive fees confidently.
By developing a keen eye for spotting junk fees, REALTORS can provide an invaluable service to their clients, fostering transparency and trust throughout the closing process. The knowledge gained in this class helps REALTORS advocate for their clients' financial interests, potentially saving them significant costs in closing fees. Through practical examples and an interactive quiz, you will walk away equipped to explain fees clearly to their clients, simplifying one of the most complex parts of the transaction. This expertise not only enhances your client’s experience but also boosts your credibility and value as a trusted real estate advisor.
