REALTORS® are dedicated to upholding fair housing laws and adhering to the highest standards of the NAR Code of Ethics. However, unconscious biases can sometimes influence our decisions and actions.
Bias Override: Overcoming Barriers to Fair Housing is an NAR certificate course designed to help real estate professionals recognize and interrupt implicit biases. This course empowers REALTORS® to deliver equitable service to every client, regardless of background. Through an engaging curriculum, participants will explore the mind science behind identity and bias, understand how implicit biases can lead to fair housing violations, and participate in interactive exercises to enhance communication and foster inclusive business relationships.
Upon completing Bias Override, REALTORS® will be able to:
Examine the historical impact of bias and discrimination in the real estate industry.
Recognize how implicit bias can lead to violations of Fair Housing laws and ethical standards.
Implement strategies to mitigate implicit bias, identity anxiety, and stereotype threat in their professional practice.
Strengthen their commitment to promoting fairness, diversity, and inclusion within their business and community.
This course fulfills the NAR Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) requirement.

Class cancellations for “Specialty” courses (Designations/Certifications/license renewal) received within 3 business days of the class start day will be subject to a $20 cancellation fee, which would result in a partial refund of the paid registration fee. If the aforementioned registration was not paid, an invoice for the $20 cancellation fee will be applied.
Members who “No Show” a class without notice of cancellation prior to class will not be eligible for a refund of the registration fee.
